Hex answers this on one page and in two separate places, which is why the question is worth asking of it rather than about it. The plan cards are denominated per Editor per month, so the headline number scales with people. A second table further down the same page prices compute by the hour instead, and that one scales with what the notebooks actually run.
On the pricing page we read for the figures above, that compute table is free at its three smallest sizes and starts charging above them, and its own footnote says it bills by the minute rather than by the hour it quotes. So a team of two running light notebooks pays the seat figure and nothing else, and the same two people running heavy jobs do not. Neither number alone tells you what the year costs, which is why the question was worth asking before the figure was.
The free plan is named and scoped, which is not the same as a trial
Hex's cheapest option is a plan rather than a countdown. The card calls it Community and describes who it is for in one sentence: "For hobbyists completing small projects and showcasing work." It carries a notebook agent trial, any data source, every cell type and small compute, which is a real if narrow allowance.
That distinction matters, because the same question gets a different kind of answer elsewhere in this directory: Jasper has a pricing page whose only free entry is a seven day trial on its cheapest paid plan. A tier that continues and a trial that expires are different products, and our methodology treats them as different answers.
